On April 10, 2025, Jinan University held its Macau New Year Exchange Conference, which brought together members of the university’s board of directors in Macau, representatives from various sectors, and alumni to discuss collaborative strategies and to chart a new development path for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Remarks from University Leadership

Vice Chairman Ma Youheng of the Board of Directors of Jinan University opened the meeting by emphasizing the crucial role that the Macau Board of Directors plays in supporting the university's development. He acknowledged the board's commitment to building platforms and connections that benefit both the university and the local community. Over the years, Jinan University has successfully trained nearly 30,000 alumni who have integrated themselves into various sectors in Macau, contributing significantly to the region’s economic and social development.

Xing Feng, President of Jinan University and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), shared insights on the university’s strategic focus. He highlighted Jinan University's role as a leading talent training center for overseas Chinese students from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. President Xing noted the university's development of unique textbooks and national platforms for cultural transmission, aiming to cultivate a new generation of professionals who are patriotic and dedicated to their communities. He reaffirmed the university's commitment to educational openness and the strategy of talent strengthening the school, which aims to gradually enhance the institution's reputation as a high-level university on the global stage.

Strengthening Alumni Engagement and Community Involvement

Jinan University boasts 16 alumni organizations in Macau, which actively engage in multicultural activities, partake in social welfare projects, and promote exchanges and cooperation. These initiatives underscore the university's efforts to foster strong ties with the local community while encouraging alumni to contribute positively to society.

The exchange meeting not only served as a platform for dialogue among alumni and community representatives but also reinforced Jinan University’s dedication to fostering collaboration and innovation in the Greater Bay Area. The collaboration between various sectors is crucial for advancing the region's development and further enhancing the contributions of Jinan University and its alumni.
