From April 7 to April 11, 2025, Xing Feng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and president of Jinan University, led a delegation to Hong Kong and Macao. The purpose of this visit was to engage with school board members and key figures from various sectors, to deepen exchanges and cooperation, and to better pool resources to promote the high-quality development of the university.
High-Level Meetings and Discussions
During the visit, Xing Feng and his team met with several influential figures, including:
?Ho Hau Wah, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jinan University.
?CHUI Sai On, former Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the university.
?Luo Yonggang, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong.
?Lv Yuyin, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macao.
?Ian Fok Chun-wan, Vice Chairman of the School Board, and Liao Zeyun, Director of the Board of Directors of Jinan University.
?O Lam, Director of the Department of Social and Cultural Affairs in Macao.
Xing Feng was accompanied by representatives from relevant functional departments of the university throughout the visit.
Key Achievements Presented
On April 11, during a meeting with Ho Hau Wah, Xing Feng reported on the university's achievements in discipline construction, talent cultivation, and scientific research innovation since he assumed office. Ho Hau Wah commended Jinan University's contributions to improving talent quality and serving the One Country, Two Systems policy in Macao. He expressed hopes for the university to enhance its unique strengths, expand high-quality disciplines, and attract outstanding faculty members to train more exceptional talents for Macao and the Greater Bay Area.

Support for Students from Macao
Later that day, Xing Feng met with CHUI Sai On to discuss the situation of student talent cultivation in Macao. CHUI Sai On congratulated the university on its recent successes and suggested the establishment of more scholarships for Macao students to help develop high-quality professionals for the local society and support national development.

Building Strong Bonds with Institutional Leaders
On April 9, during a visit to Ian Fok Chun-wan, Xing Feng expressed gratitude for the support from the Huo family over the years and highlighted recent developments at Jinan University. Ian Fok Chun-wan noted the critical role of talent in organizational growth and discussed plans to create a talent training fund to facilitate continuing support for the university's talent cultivation and research initiatives.

Cultural and Educational Collaborations
On April 10, Xing Feng and his delegation met with O Lam, engaging in discussions on education collaborations, cultural heritage, and youth development. Xing Feng highlighted the university's comprehensive training system involving scholarships and internships, which aims to further raise awareness and enrollment efforts in Australasia. O Lam praised the university for its service to Macao and indicated the Department of Social and Cultural Affairs' commitment to supporting Jinan University’s development efforts.

Engagement with Central Government Liaison Offices
During their visit, Xing Feng and his delegation also met with Luo Yonggang and Lv Yuyin from the Liaison Offices of the Central Government in Hong Kong and Macao, respectively. They discussed vital topics such as student employment, enrollment, and high-end talent attraction. Luo Yonggang affirmed the ongoing support from the Liaison Office, especially in boosting talent cultivation and employment for students. Meanwhile, Lv Yuyin expressed appreciation for Jinan University’s contributions to talent cultivation in Macao and emphasized the importance of instilling values of patriotism and love for Macao among students.
The visit to Hong Kong and Macao underscores Jinan University’s commitment to fostering strong relationships with local communities and key institutions, enhancing cooperation, and developing innovative educational strategies to support the dynamic development of the Greater Bay Area. Through deeper engagement with alumni and leaders in various sectors, Jinan University aims to leverage its strengths in cultivating talent and contribute significantly to society.
